Synchronicity is dedicated to the development of young artists—particularly young women.

To this end, we initiated an intern program in 1999. This program is free-form but highly disciplined, driven by the needs and skills of the particular artists. Think of it as a mentorship. Some participants work on a show-by-show basis as a design assistant, assistant stage manager, assistant dramaturg, etc. Others work with us in a long term internship in areas like marketing, PR, fundraising and development. We have partnered with students from Oglethorpe University, Agnes Scott College, Emory University, Georgia State University and Spelman College, among others, and can work with your school to facilitate receiving credit for your work.

In addition, we occasionally offer performance internships, where you can work as an actor on a particular show as well as receive master classes, one-on-one mentoring and fulfill crew duties.

Essentially, if you are smart, eager, punctual, inquisitive and play well with others, we want to work with you. Synchronicity is a nurturing and supportive environment in which to learn, and we want to support your growth as an artist. We are also a great place to get to know dedicated, conscientious and talented members of the working arts community, which in many cases quickly leads to employment for our interns.

Leitalift Internship
Synchronicity and the Leitalift Foundation began a partnership in 2004 to sponsor one intern annually. The criteria for selection includes financial need, artistic promise and a desire to work long-term in the theatre. The candidate has to be a young woman who would benefit from mentorship with women theatre artists and getting practical experience in both the managerial and artistic areas. The six-month internship offers a $1,000 stipend.

Leita Thompson, a hard working single woman herself, for many years personally and through the Leitalift Foundation she founded, made it possible for working women to enjoy a fuller life by providing housing on her property. Since her death, her property, over 700 acres, was given to the City of Roswell for a permanent green space. Beginning in 2001, the Leitalift Foundation has been granting scholarships to deserving young women to assist them in furthering their education to achieve a fuller life.
