Each season, Synchronicity produces at least one world premiere, inviting audiences to share in the first public production of a new play.

Our world premieres are often in partnership with other theatres across the country as a ‘rolling world premiere,’ which allows playwright and play to gather steam through multiple productions across the country within a 12-month period. Rolling premieres are often supported through the National New Play Network.

We also periodically commission work from playwrights, or develop ensemble-created work. Some of our seminal examples of this include Lee Nowell’s 2016 Beyond Reasonable Doubt and the ensemble-created, 2005 production of Women + War, which President Jimmy Carter called “… a rich example of the social power of cultural arts. By exploring the world’s wars thoughtfully, the message reflects the importance of pursuing peace around the globe.”

Currently, we are developing Women’s Work, a new project examining women’s relationship to work which is supported by the MAP Fund and the National Endowment for the Arts.
